Hana Umami Black Phono Cartridge

The Umami Black is Hana's true flagship, designed by Masao Okada and framed by Hana as the culmination of more than fifty years of Excel Sound's cartridge engineering.

It introduces several firsts for Hana: a diamond cantilever, a newly developed OKD moving-coil generator with what Hana calls the world's first integrated pole piece and rear yoke, an inverted-U-shaped front yoke for resonance control and magnetic alignment, a neodymium-iron-boron rare-earth magnet, and a hand-wound hybrid carbon armature using 4N high-purity copper wire, finished with an Urushi lacquer applied by vapor deposition over an aluminum body.

Moving coil design with no field-replaceable stylus; a worn cartridge is sent to a third-party retip service rather than swapped like a moving magnet stylus.
